Foundation of works worth Rs 49.98 crore laid in Amarkantak under Prasad scheme
Bhopal 21 January 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the holy Narmada is the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh. With the blessings of Maa Narmada, happiness and prosperity comes in the state. Joint efforts are required to make Amarkantak the origin of Narmada river clean and beautiful. Chief Minister Chouhan said that stern steps will be taken to ensure that dirty water and garbage does not mix with the river water. With public support, cleanliness, beauty and purity of the origin will be maintained.
Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing a programme organized to lay the foundation of development works costing Rs 49.98 crore in the religious tourism destination Amarkantak and other development works of Amarkantak under Prasad Yojana of the Government of India in the holy city of Amarkantak in Anuppur district today. On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Spirituality, Sushri Usha Thakur, Minister of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Bisahulal Singh, Minister of Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Castes Welfare Sushri Meena Singh, MP Smt. Himadri Singh and public representatives were present.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that the holy city of Amarkantak has been a place of meditation for seers. It is our mutual responsibility to maintain its purity. Citizens and saints of Amarkantak region should ensure that the holy river does not get dirty. The Chief Minister said that the Narmada Water Treatment Plant should be completed in the next 6 months and plantation should be done in coastal areas of Narmada.
He instructed the district administration to ban concrete construction works and cement-concrete works in Amarkantak. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the environment of Amarkantak region will be balanced scientifically. We are making efforts to conserve and promote Narmada river, so that the incessant flow of the river continues.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that silt removal from Gayatri and Savitri Sarovars of Amarkantak region should get started to ensure cleanliness and beauty. He said that several construction works are being undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India under the Prasad Yojana in Amarkantak, which will change the appearance of Amarkantak and attract tourists. The Chief Minister said that along with the construction of kutis in the forest area of Amarkantak region, Dhyankutis will also be built. He said that a wide variety of herbs are found in Amarkantak region. Tribal families should be encouraged to cultivate these herbs and the benefits of knowledge of herbs of these tribal families should reach the common people.
Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) Prahlad Singh Patel said that Maa Narmada has made me an instrument for the development of Amarkantak as a Narmada devotee. I am fortunate to have got an opportunity to do something good for Maa Narmada. The Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture said that there is need to pay attention to cleanliness also apart from the beauty of Narmada. Construction of commercial buildings should be prohibited in Amarkantak region in order to conserve and promote it and efforts should be made to ensure that filth does not dirty the river. He said that commercial activities must be stopped to maintain cleanliness and purity of Amarkantak.
Culture, Tourism and Spirituality Minister, Sushri Usha Thakur said that efforts should be made to construct the Ramgaman Path. Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Bisahulal Singh said that Narmada region has been a sacred area for sages and saints. We are the sons of Narmada, people of our tribal society have served saints and seers since time immemorial. He said that Maa Narmada Jayanti will be celebrated in the coming days. It is our moral responsibility to keep the holy city of Amarkantak clean and beautiful. Local MP Himadri Singh also addressed the programme. Chief Minister Chouhan and Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel dedicated works worth Rs 8.01 crores under Mini Smart City Amarkantak Yojana and dedicated various development works worth Rs 24.92 crores besides performing bhoomi pujan. The programme started with kanya pujan.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan distributed benefits to beneficiaries of various schemes.
