State Advisory Committee’s Meeting of PC-PNDT Concluded
Bhopal: State Advisory Committee formed under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PC-PNDT) has recommended to honour Bhupat Singh Jadon, a social activists for informing about the illegal abortion centre with a reward of Rs. One lakh. Joint team formed by the district Collector and Superintendent of Police after the sting operation have arrested the culprits doctors and other persons found involved in foetal sex determination test. This information was given in a State Advisory Committee meeting held under the Chairmanship of State Appropriate Authority and Director National Health Mission Dr. B.N. Chouhan today.
Director Child Line Smt. Archana Sahay, Gynaecologist Dr. Minakshi Patel, Paediatrician Dr. Jyotsana Shrivastva, State Nodal Officer Dr. Vandana Sharma, Smt. Swati Singh, Social Activist Smt. Prarthana Mishra and Public Relations Officer were present in the meeting.
The committee has decided to include radiologist, gynaecologists - FOGSI (Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecologists Societies of India) members and social activists in the district inspection and survey teams for qualitative inspections. The District Advisory Committee will ensure inspection of sonography centres at least once in three months. The committee also took decision to honour the districts for holding regular meetings and to take action against the districts for not holding the meetings regularly. Moreover, ‘Hamari Bitiya’ campaign and ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign being implemented in 6 districts were reviewed in the meeting.
Government Doctors Not to Open Centres at Their Homes
It was informed in the meeting that regular and contractual doctors cannot open sonography centres at their homes. The committee has decided to cancel the representations of such government doctors. Also deliberations on inspections of 5 registered centres in Bhopal and 3 registered centres of Dewas carried out by the National Inspection and Survey Team on March 23 and 24, to speed up publicity regarding public awareness and to empower ad-hoc committees of villages etc. took place in the meeting.-WTN
