Social Concerns have made Yatra more relevant
Bhopal: The Darshan of Narmada is itself equal to a one-day dip in Ganga or a three-day dip in Yamuna. This is a belief rampant among the villagers residing along the banks of the Narmada and the “Namami Devi Narmade”-Seva Yatris.
Narmada Seva Yatris Samnalal Sahu and Kunjbihari Sahu of Koma village in Seoni district and Champalal of Sherda Kesari village of Khandwa district said that this Yatra would generate awareness among the future generation towards the conservation of Maa Narmade. Sahu joined the yatra on December 11 last year. He said that it is essential to create this feeling in the future generation that the waves of Maa Narmada must continue to move only then can they be happy in their lives. The Yatris believe that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made the Yatra more relevant by linking social concerns like de -addiction, cleanliness and Beti Bachao –Beti Padhao with it.
There were no traces of any tiredness on the faces of any of the Narmada devotees who took part in the Seva Yatra. On being asked about this glow on their faces, they said the lifeline Narmada has blessed every single person residing on its banks besides the adjacent fields. It is high time we rectify the wrongs we have committed for our selfish interests. He said that the state has realized this on time and through the Yatra it is attempting to get its message across to us. The Yatris believe that the yatra which was initiated with a very pious objective will definitely fulfill it.
On its 114th day today the “Namami Devi Narmade” – Seva Yatra left Heerapur village in Narsinghpur district to enter Meregaon in Jabalpur district. Minister of State (independent charge) for Medical Education Sharad Jain, MLA Smt. Pratibha Singh, people’s representatives besides villagers accorded a warm welcome to the Yatra.-WTN
