Will make Katni a beautiful and clean city through planned development: CM Chouhan

Cm reviews five-year development roadmap of four urban areas 
 
Bhopal 06 February 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that all the cities of Katni district, known for its abundant industrial and mineral wealth, will be developed into a beautiful and the cleanest city through well-planned development. Chief Minister Chouhan was reviewing the strategy and actions of the year-wise development and construction action plan of Katni Municipal Corporation’s Five Year Development Action Plan 2021-26, Barhi, Vijayraghavgarh and Kaimor Nagar Parishad on Saturday. Khajuraho MP Vishnudutt Sharma, Minister of Mineral Resources Brijendra Pratap Singh, MLA Satyendra Pathak, Sandeep Jaiswal, Pranay Prabhat Pandey, District Panchayat president Mamta Patel, other public representatives and officials were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that all the public representatives should work unitedly to develop the city and ensure that Katni district progresses faster towards development and public welfare and touches new heights of development.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the district administration should choose appropriate land for air strip at Katni to promote tourism and industries. Chief Minister Chouhan said that Katni district abounds in all types of minerals. Local youth will be trained and their skills upgraded in their respective trades so that they can be employed in local industrial units. He said that efforts will also be made to ensure proper exploitation of minerals, value addition and processing of raw materials. Chief Minister Chouhan instructed that if there is no expected progress in the sewerage plan and drinking water scheme of Katni city, the concerned tenderer to fix a deadline for completion of work.

Cleanliness must be given priority

Chief Minister Chouhan said that cleanliness is a matter related to the health of the person, so cleanliness should also be given priority along with public welfare and development works. Citing the example of Indore, he said that having topped in sanitation, the graph of infectious diseases is declining rapidly in the city. The Chief Minister said that all of us will work together to make Katni top in cleanliness and keep it number one. Cleanliness should be a matter of pride and awareness should be created among the citizens to collect wet and dry waste separately. Taking information about the Neki ki Deewar, the Chief Minister said that this is the best humanitarian initiative and should be taken forward.

Chief Minister Chouhan also reviewed urban development infrastructure, traffic reforms and transport services. He said that efforts should be made to develop the facilities of citizens according to the practical needs and circumstances of Katni city.

Connect urban women with self-help groups

Chief Minister Chouhan said that there is need to connect self help groups of women in urban areas with economic activities to empower them. He congratulated the Municipal Corporation of Katni district for coming fourth in the state with their outstanding performance under the Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swanidhi Street Vendors Yojana. As many as 4300 street vendors against the target set at 5400, have been provided with benefits of Swanidhi Yojana in Katni.

Presentation of Five Year Roadmap

Collector Priyank Mishra informed that an action plan costing Rs 704 crore 73 lakh has been prepared for the five-year roadmap of Katni Municipal Corporation up to year 2026. Similarly, a target of completing 132 crore development works in the year 2021-22 has been set in the annual action plan. Chief Minister Chouhan reviewed the major points including urban infrastructure development, livelihood promotion, revenue and administrative reforms, environmental protection, development of tourism and tourism circuit etc. of the action plan. He said that a public park should be developed in Katni city in such a way that it attracts people easily and those visiting the city should not leave the city without seeing the park – Window to News
