Planned development of Gwalior through five-year development roadmap: CM Chouhan

Rs 5 thousand crores to be spent on development of Gwalior in five years
Gwalior will be developed keeping historical and archaeological importance intact 
 
 
Bhopal 07 February 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the glorious Gwalior city of historical and archaeological importance has its own traditions and life values. While keeping this intact, we will build a wonderful and beautiful city of Gwalior using modern technology on the foundation of the ancient city. He said that planned development of Gwalior will be done through the five-year development roadmap. Rs 5 thousand crore will be spent on the development of Gwalior city in five years. 

Chief Minister Chouhan reviewed the roadmap for development of Gwalior on Sunday in Gwalior with Union Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Narendra Singh Tomar and Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia. Those who attended the meeting were Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Om Prakash Sakhalecha, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Mahendra Singh Sisodia, Minister of State for Horticulture and Food Processing (Independent Charge) Bharat Singh Kushwaha, Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing OPS Bhadauria and Minister of State for Public Works Suresh Dhakad, MP Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar, former Minister Smt. Imarti Devi and BJP District President Kamal Makhijani and other public representatives.

Chief Minister Chouhan instructed that the roadmap of Gwalior development should be embodied in such a way that along with infrastructural development, tourism should also be promoted. Businesses should flourish and large-scale jobs should be created. Also, Gwalior should take the form of a clean, beautiful and well planned city. In the meeting, Chief Minister Chouhan reviewed in detail the development works included in the five-year roadmap of Gwalior. The “Apna Hospital” scheme launched by the Gwalior Divisional Commissioner was appreciated by the Chief Minister Chouhan.

Work of Western bypass Gwalior should be taken up on priority

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the Western bypass is very important for the development of Gwalior city. This work should be given top priority and completed within the time-limit. Once the bypass is completed, the concept of Ring Road will be realised. He said that bypass should be constructed on the lines of the Super Corridor of Indore.

Cabinet sub-committee meeting will be held in Gwalior to promote tourism

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that a meeting of the tourism sub-committee of the Cabinet will be held soon in Gwalior to promote tourism in the city and connect it to all tourism circuits.

Serious efforts should be made to make Gwalior lead in cleanliness

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed that serious efforts should be made to make Gwalior city a leader in the field of cleanliness. Special efforts should be made to ensure that hygiene becmes a habit with people. He said that in the cleanliness drive, the residents association, along with the public representatives should become social partners.

Make short term plans also along with long term plans of drinking water

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Chambal project will provide a permanent solution to the drinking water problem of Gwalior city. He said that along with long-term project, short-term plans should be made so that the residents do not face any water shortage till the completion of the Chambal project. Chief Minister Chouhan emphasized oon ensuring tap connections in every house of Gwalior city under the Jaljeevan Mission. 

Never let the sewer of houses flow into the golden line

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the dirty sewage water flowing into houses through the Golden Line should be stopped. The work of connecting the settlements around the Golden Line to the sewer line should be taken up as a campaign.

CM removes pages involving time limit and keeps it with himself

Chief Minister Chouhan took out those pages of the five-year roadmap work plan of Gwalior which mentions time-limit for completion of the works and kept it with himself. It may be noted that the roadmap has targeted to complete the works in a period of one year, one to three years and three to five years.

Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that well-planned and beautiful settlements should be arranged around the Western Bypass. He told to prepare a proposal for a separate alternative route for the village of Bargaon area passing through Lal Tipara gaushala from 6 no. Square of Morar. Due to the construction of this road, people will not have to pass through the army area.

Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia gave useful suggestions regarding the upgrading of railway station and expansion of airport, drinking water scheme and smart city works. He assured that all possible help will be provided by the central government for the development of Gwalior along with with Union Minister Tomar and MP Shejwalkar.

Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar gave other suggestions related to the development of the city from the tourism point of view, including the development of the Kilagate area. Minister of State (Independent Charge) Bharat Singh Kushwaha also spoke about providing drinking water and sanitation works under AMRUT and other schemes in all the 6 wards in Gwalior city. Member of Parliament Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar gave useful suggestions regarding the planned development of the city.
