MP ranks first at the national level in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana

Chief Minister Chouhan congratulates departmental staff
Bhopal 17 March 2021: Madhya Pradesh has ranked first in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, in the year 2020-21. Madhya Pradesh has achieved 152 percent achievement in the scheme. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has congratulated the officers and employees of the Department of Women and Child Development for this achievement.
A review meeting cum capacity building programme was organized by the Women and Child Development Department of the central government on March 15, 2021 through video conference. It was informed in the programme, by the Government of India team that since the inception of the scheme in Madhya Pradesh, maternity benefit of Rs 942 crore was distributed to the beneficiaries on 22 lakh 2 thousand 258 applications, which is the first at the national level. The efforts of the districts and the state doing excellent work in the districts of Agar Malwa, Chhindwara, Shahdol, Sehore and Alirajpur were appreciated and the state team was congratulated for the successful and smooth implementation of the scheme in the review meeting. Madhya Pradesh was awarded last year also for achieving the first position at the national level in the implementation of the scheme.
The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana launched by the Government of India from January 1, 2017, has been implemented in all the districts of the state under the 'National Food Security Act 2013. The objective of the scheme is to provide cash incentives to pregnant women as partial compensation for the loss of wages so as to ensure that the women get adequate rest before and after delivery of the first child. The objective of the scheme is to improve the health practices of pregnant women and lactating mothers through cash incentives.
Under the scheme, all pregnant women and nursing mothers are given Rs 5 thousand per beneficiary in three installments after fulfillment of conditions laid down on the first born child. There is provision of depositing the first installment of Rs 1000 on early registration of pregnancy at the Anganwadi center, second installment of Rs. 2000 on prenatal check up and completion of 6 months of pregnancy and third installment of Rs.2000 after registration of birth of the child and first cycle of vaccination of the child, through D.B.T. directly in their aadhar-linked bank or post office account.
The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana has also been linked with the ‘Umang’ app, using which the time taken for the entry of the applications of the beneficiaries under the scheme will be reduced. Through the ‘Umang’ app, the regional staff will be able to register new beneficiaries, get entry of second and third installment applications, improvement in correction queue and information of beneficiaries – Window to News
