Minister Smt. Mehdele takes part in Sahajpur village in Jabalpur District

Bhopal: “Namami Devi Narmade” – Seva Yatra today commenced from Sahajpur village of Shehpura development block in Jabalpur. Public Health and Engineering Minister Smt. Kusum Mehdele carrying a kalash over her head started the yatra. Earlier she planted saplings and gave a message to keep the Narmada clean. She said that the water of Maa Narmada is pure and waste material must not be flown in it. Everyone must resolve to keep the Narmada pure and tree plantation must be organized on a large scale to ensure incessant flow of the Narmada.

People from all communities and categories are joining the Narmada Yatra initiated by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Be it teachers or students from prestigious colleges and other social institutions, everyone was ensuring their participation in some form or the other. Today the Yatra starting from Sahajpur reached Bhedaghat via Heerapur Bandha, Bilkharvan, Bhedaghat Chouraha and Saraswati Ghat. On their way the Yatris were welcomed by citizens including Shri Ravatpura Engineering College, LNCT Group and Vaishya Samaj at regular intervals who also distributed fruits, water, eatables and other cold drinks to the yatris.

The way from Saraswati Ghat to Bhedghat was decorated beautifully with rangoli. MLA Smt. Pratibha Singh administered resolve to people at several places to keep the Narmada clean.

The Yatra has so far covered total 2739 kilometres in a period of 117 days. The Yatra has covered total 500 gram panchayats, 677 villages, 51 development blocks crossing Heerapur Bandha, Bilkharvan, Bhedaghat Chouraha, Saraswati Ghat, Bhedaghat (north bank) villages in Shehpura development block of Jabalpur district. The Yatra is now in its 16th district that is Jabalpur.-WTN
