Recovery About Rs. 206 Crore Made during Inspection of over 13 lakh Electricity Connections

Bhopal: A total of 13 lakh 37 thousand 544 high tension and low tension electricity connections were inspected by East, Central and West Region Power Distribution Companies of the state in different areas in the year 2016-17. Irregularities in 2 lakh 36 thousand 131 electricity connections were found or cases of power theft were registered during the inspection. A recovery of Rs. 205 crore 86 lakh 62 thousand has been made by three companies against the cases. During this period, 32 thousand 381 cases of power theft or cases of irregularities were presented in the special courts.
The East Region Power distribution Company has made recovery of Rs. 66 crore 2 lakh 10 thousand against one lakh 9 thousand 387 cases of power theft or on finding irregularities during the inspection of total 4 lakh 82 thousand 91 electricity connections in Jabalpur, Sagar and Rewa areas in the year 2016-17. At the same time 22 thousand 234 cases were presented in the special court.
A total of 68 thousand 241 power theft or cases of irregularities were registered during the inspection of 7 lakh one thousand 180 electricity connections by the West Region Power Distribution Company in Indore and Ujjain areas. A recovery of Rs. 84 crore 70 lakh 77 thousand has been made by the company. During the same period, 7,031 cases were presented in the special court.
The Central Power Distribution Company during the inspection of One lakh 54 thousand 237 electricity connections in Bhopal and Gwalior areas has found 58 thousand 530 cases of power theft or irregularities. A recovery of Rs. 55 crore 13 lakh 75 thousand has been made by the company from the consumers. A total of 3116 cases were presented in the special court.-WTN
