Inauguration of Jal Sanrakshan Karyakram-Bundelkhand today

Bhopal: Special efforts are being made by the Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Ministry, Government of India for speedy implementation of constant development of water bodies, water conservation and water promotion schemes with the support of the state governments in areas lacking water. Under this, a “Jal Sanrakshan Karyakram-Bundelkhand” is being launched at 11 am on Friday (April 28) at Bandri (Malthaun) in Sagar district.

The programme in which Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Smt. Uma Bharti will be the chief guest, will also be attended by State’s Water Resources, Public Relations and Parliamentary Works Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra and Home Minister Bhupendra Singh, Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Minister Dharampal Singh and Minister of State for Gram and Seva Yojana Manoharlal Mannu Kori.

The work of developing water bodies to improve socio-economic situation in areas where there is fear of drought has been undertaken through this programme in the country. The work of restoration of water bodies at the states level is being implemented. Small irrigation schemes in the water resources area of Sagar division in Madhya Pradesh are being speeded up. The irrigation area in the state in the last one decade has increased to a great extent. The Centre and State government are making united efforts to increase irrigation area.-WTN
