Football Talent Hunt Tournament – 2017 “Urja” from May 8 to 15 in Bhopal

Revenue Minister Gupta unveils ‘logo’ and mascot “Gabru” 

Bhopal: The Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament 2017 “Urja” will be held from May 8 to May 15 in Bhopal. The tournament will be inaugurated on May 8 at 3.30 pm at T.T. Nagar Stadium. Revenue, Science and Technology Minister Umashankar Gupta and Mayor Shri Alok Sharma unveiled the tournament “logo” and mascot “Gabru” at Ravindra Bhavan. Tournament will be organized by CRPF.

Revenue Minister Gupta said that CRPF has a glorious history and a long series of sacrifices. He said that we should encourage games at every level. Gupta said that no talent should remain unnoticed because of shortage of funds. Government is making every effort to bring talents forward and encourage them. He urged the Mayor to organize such tournaments in future also. Gupta said that the budget of Sports Department was Rs 5 crores in 2003 which was hiked to nearly Rs 220 crores.

Mayor Sharma said that sports generate a spirit of competition and discipline in life. He said that children should play and make the state and country proud.

Mission Eleven Million

CRPF Inspector General of Police Pankaj Kumar informed that “Mission Eleven Million” programme has been launched. The main objective of the programme is to link one crore one lakh children with football before FIFA Under-17 World Cup – 2017. Four boys teams and four girls teams will take part in the tournament. The boys team match will be held at Barkatullah University and the girls team match at
SAI Complex Bhopal.

Revenue Minister Gupta and Mayor honoured the Tournament’s Brand Ambassador Taekwondo Champion Kumari Latika Bhandari, Shri Ishan Sharma and Vipul Tomar, students of CRPF School Rohini, Delhi.

A two-minute silence was observed in respect of martyrs during the programme. Deputy Inspector General of Police K.B. Sharma proposed the vote of thanks.-WTN
