Menhdi and Ladies Sangeet Rituals Held

Bhopal: Haldi, Tel (oil), Menhdi Rituals of girls and Ladies sangeet were held in front Palash Hotel of South-West Assembly constituency one day before the mass marriage ceremony to be held under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya. The girls said that rituals better than home have been performed here. Mass marriage ceremony of 61 couples will be held on Saturday.

Minister for Revenue, Science and Technology Umashankar Gupta along with his wife Smt. Radha Gupta participated in all the rituals. Smt. Gupta applied haldi, tel and menhdi to all the girls. Relatives of girls danced merrily on the occasion.

Under the mass marriage ceremony, marriage of 56 Hindu couples and nikah of 5 couples will be performed. Marriage of two disabled couples will also be performed on this occasion.

Baraat procession will start from Bharat Mata Square on April 29 at 10 a.m. Grooms will be taken to the marriage site seated on bagghi (chariot) and horses amid band-baja. Shri Gupta will perform Swagat and Dwarchar rituals. Pandits will perform the marriage rituals. Gupta informed that additional gifts will be provided with cooperation of social activists to the newly wedded couples beside items provided under the scheme.-WTN
