Bhopal 01 March 2022 Today proved to be a day of pride for the city of Ujjain. The people of Ujjain have set a new record by lighting 11 lakh 71 thousand 78 earthen lamps simultaneously at Ramghat, Datta Akhada, Narsingh Ghat, Guru Nanak Ghat, Sunahari Ghat, breaking the record of 9 lakh 41 thousand lamps lit in Ayodhya last November. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with wife Smt. Sadhana Singh started the ‘Shiv Jyoti Arpanam’ programme by lighting 15 diyas at Ramghat of Kshipra river. Chief Minister Chouhan said that Mahashivratri would be celebrated every year in Ujjain in the same way.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that due to the grace of Mahakal Maharaj and the devotion, faith and penance of general public, I have got the privilege of setting a unique record on Mahashivratri today. Chief Minister Chouhan said that may Lord Mahakal shower blessings on the city of Ujjain, may all be happy, may all be healthy and may all prosper. The Chief Minister said that our successful Prime Minister Narendra Modi is building a prosperous, magnificent and powerful nation. Prime Minister is successfully conducting Mission Ganga to rescue the Indians trapped in Ukraine.
Ujjain’s birthday will be celebrated on Gudi Padwa (Varsha Pratipada)
Chief Minister Chouhan said that we bow at the feet of Lord Mahakal. Devadhidev Mahakal is such a god, in whose eyes no one is small or big. Simply offering Bilwa patra makes Bhole Bhandari happy. He does not want 56 types of delicacies to make him happy. He is happy with Bhang-Dhatura. Chief Minister Chouhan said that I want to appeal to the people of the state that the way Lord Shankar consumed poison, fought to save the world and was called Neelkanth, we too should sacrifice for the service of others. He appealed to the general public to learn from Bholenath. Those who have more than they need, should give to those who are needy. Lord Shiva applies the ashes of the cremation ground and thus he says that the body of all of us is mortal. The Chief Minister said that I thank the people of Ujjain from the heart, for a remarkable work done today. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the birthday of Ujjain city would be celebrated on Gudi Padwa (Varsha Pratipada). He said that not only Avantika but every village and every city of the state would celebrate its own birthday.
In the Jyoti Arpanam programme, the work of lighting the earthen lamps at Ramghat started at 6.42 pm today. 11 lakh 71 thousand 78 lamps were lit simultaneously. At 6.47 pm the lights of all the Ghats were switched off and the bank of Kshipra was bathed by the light of the earthen lamps. The counting of illuminated lamps was started by the representative of Guinness Book of World Records at 6.53 pm and after some time it was announced by Nischal Barot of Guinness Book that the city of Ujjain broke Ayodhya's record and set the new record, then a wave of happiness ran among the lakhs of people present at the ghats of Kshipra. Fireworks were also done enthusiastically on this happy occasion.
After lighting of the earthen lamps, Chief Minister Chouhan, his wife Sadhana Singh Chouhan and other guests had a look at the unique beauty of the earthen lamps by boating in Kshipra. Culture and Tourism Minister Sushri Usha Thakur, Ujjain district in-charge and Finance and Commercial Minister Jagdish Deora, MP Anil Firojia, MLA Paras Jain, MLA Bahadur Singh Chouhan, Chairman of the Mela Authority Makhan Singh, Collector Ashish Singh, Superintendent of Police Satyendra Kumar Shukla, Municipal Commissioner Anshul Gupta, Smart City CEO Ashish Pathak, former MP Prof. Chintamani Malviya, besides a large number of devotees and citizens were present.
