CM Chouhan will release ‘Madhya Pradesh Good Governance and Development Report 2022’ in New Delhi

Bhopal 03 April 2022: Madhya Pradesh government is going to release the first edition of its annual “Madhya Pradesh Good Governance and Development Report (MPSDR) 2022” on April 4, 2022 at India Habitat Center in New Delhi. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will dedicate the report. Ministers of the Central and State governments, MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh will be present in the programme. In addition, all IAS, IPS and IFS officers deputed to New Delhi, ambassadors from various countries, development partners and dignitaries from UN agencies will also attend the event.

The keynote speakers of the release programme will be Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Member (Human Resources), Capacity Building Commission, Government of India, Erik Solheim, Former Executive Director, UNEP and V. Srinivas, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India.

This report has been prepared by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis (AGPA), Government of Madhya Pradesh. The report is the result of the intensive work done by the faculty at AGPA with the valuable inputs of subject-experts from reputed institutions of the country and support from various departments of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh Good Governance and Development Report 2022 is the first of its kind document which brings out the unique governance practices of the state. This includes community affiliation and participation, strong policy measures, efficient delivery systems, evidence-based decision making and comprehensive monitoring.

Madhya Pradesh Good Governance and Development Report 2022 is a unique attempt to document the changes brought about in various sectors due to good governance and delineate the methodology of good governance, partnership of various stakeholders in it and ways to measure it. The report outlines the state of governance and the challenges it faces, especially in the context of policy reforms in selected sectors.

MPSDR 2022 consists of 12 chapters, categorized into five sections. In the chapters of the first section, the details of the features of good governance and the efforts made in this direction in the state in the last 15 years have been presented. This section presents a suggestive framework for monitoring and assessing good governance. The second focuses on Covid-19 and presents the details of the changes and developments in the management of the pandemic. The third section provides a comprehensive analysis of key areas, including stakeholders’ issues and points of action. This also includes chapters on Agriculture, Rural Development, Industry and Trade, Financial Inclusion and Biodiversity and Traditional Knowledge.

In this report, there are discussions in separate chapters of AYUSH, urban development and science and technology innovation. The fourth section, 'Supervision and Evaluation', throws light on the basic indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals. In this, the performance of other states, especially the state of Madhya Pradesh, has been compared with the performance of the best performing states using social participation and multilevel crisis committees. The final section of the report suggests actionable points and policy recommendations for the growth and development of key sectors in the state. The comprehensive analysis and insights of the report will be useful for fulfilling the commitment of the state government towards the goal of good governance and self-reliant Madhya Pradesh.

The ‘School of Good Governance and Policy Analysis’ was established in the year 2007 to promote good governance in the state. Now, this institute is well established and known as ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis’.

The Institute acts as a think tank of the Government for the fulfillment of its aims and objectives of promoting good governance through quality research, policy analysis, impact assessment and periodical advice to the Government. To fulfill the objectives, the institute ensures active and meaningful participation of citizens, society and educational institutions of high repute.
