Bhopal 20 April 2022 : Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the opinion of local public representatives must be taken in matters related to forest management. The implementation of plans and programmes should be ensured in harmony with the needs of the local people besides the opinion of the public representatives and legal provisions. Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing the 22nd meeting of Madhya Pradesh State Wildlife Board. Forest Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Forest Ashok Varnwal, Principal Secretary Tribal Affairs Smt. Pallavi Jain Govil, Forest Department officials and members of State Wildlife Board were present in the meeting held at Mantralaya.

Chief Minister Chouhan directed to hold discussions with the public representatives of the area regarding notifying the reserved forests in Sagar district as sanctuaries and declaring Ratapani Sanctuary as Ratapani Tiger Reserve. Chief Minister Chouhan also directed to complete the restoration of African cheetahs in Kuno National Park at the earliest. Chief Minister Chouhan stated the need to be more vigilant for the protection of tigers. He said that after studying the sustainability of tigers in various sanctuaries, action should be taken to shift the tigers to other sanctuaries if required. It is necessary to control the movement of tigers in human settlement areas.

In view of the presence of wild elephants in eastern Madhya Pradesh and the damage being done by them, Chief Minister Chouhan directed to formulate a practical strategy for the control of elephants and to take effective steps to create awareness among the rural residents of the affected districts. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the environment and protection of alligators should be given top priority in Son Gharial Sanctuary. Local residents should be engaged in the arrangement of sand supply for livelihood without harming the environment and the crocodiles. Chief Minister Chouhan directed to use the latest technology in case of forest fire for quick control of the fire. He said that it is necessary to adopt a rescue strategy while taking the causes of the fire seriously

Suggestions were also received in the meeting to make special provisions in the master plan to save biodiversity around Bhopal, protect greenery and ponds etc. and to ban construction works in the area of ​​tiger movement adjoining Bhopal. Suggestions were also given in the meeting to encourage private participation in planting sagoun on the barren land of revenue. The Wildlife Board appreciated the campaign being run by Chief Minister Chouhan for daily plantation.
