Bhopal 28 May 2022: President Ram Nath Kovind has said that it is our goal to provide good health services to the last person in the last row. For this, the Government of India and the Government of Madhya Pradesh are working non-stop. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his team deserve applause for the work they are doing for better education and health facilities in Madhya Pradesh. My best wishes for the people of the state to be healthy and happy.
President Kovind dedicated new health institutions of the state and performed bhoomi-pujan in a programme organized at Motilal Nehru Stadium today. He also dedicated new construction works costing Rs 154 crore 78 lakh in 8 urban health institutions and newly constructed buildings worth Rs 72 crore 3 lakh in 4 urban health institutions. He also performed bhoomi-pujan of Regional Institute of Respiratory Diseases, Orthopedic Excellence Center, Drug Store and Superintendent's office at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal.
President Kovind said that it is clear how much the Madhya Pradesh government takes care of the health of the people, from the fact that fogging machines have been installed at the venue so that people sitting here do not feel the heat. For this I thank Chief Minister Chouhan and respect him.
President Kovind said that this is my seventh visit to Madhya Pradesh, the heart of the country. I have sweet memories connected with Madhya Pradesh. Today I feel proud to be taking part in the programmes of health services, Ayurveda. Health institutions have been dedicated and bhoomi-pujan has been performed in the state today. This will strengthen the health infrastructure.
President Kovind said that doctors, nurses, health workers etc. have made sacrifices and set worthy example, in dealing with the extraordinary challenge of the Covid pandemic. Everyone united and faced Covid and India was successful in controlling the pandemic. Our priority is the expansion of health services.
President Kovind said that when a person is sick, first of all he remembers God and after that a doctor or nurse appears in front of him. The doctor’s advice works as medicine. The basic mantra of medicine is ‘Kaamaye dukhattapatanam praninam aratanashanam’ which means that they work with the spirit of alleviating the sufferings of patients. Sometimes patients and their relatives misbehave with doctors, this should not happen, they should have patience and restraint.
President Kovind said that treatment in India is cheaper compared to foreign countries. India is becoming a medical tourist hub. Indian origin doctors are giving good services in different countries. Our physicians work with the spirit of ‘Sarvabhuta Hite Rataah’ i.e. service to living beings.
President Kovind said that many doctors are working in small villages with the spirit of service, sacrifice and dedication, instead of working in foreign countries or big cities. While giving away the Padma Samman, the example of Dr. Leela Joshi, a doctor from Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh came up. She has been working for the last two decades to eradicate anemia in the tribal urban slums. Her work is commendable.
In his address, Governor Mangubhai Patel said that today two premier institutes including Regional Institute of Respiratory Disease and Center of Excellence for Orthopedics are being dedicated and foundations of various health institutions are being laid. These are important for the health and medical care of the citizens and through these people will get much needed care. The Ayushman Yojana implemented in the field of health during the last eight year tenure of Prime Minister Modi is significant and the world’s largest health scheme.
Prime Minister Modi is making medicines available at minimum rates to the poor and middle class through Jan Aushadhi Yojana. As per Prime Minister’s intention, the work of providing wellness center, telemedicine system, referral system and speedy treatment is being done in the state. Governor Patel said that about 21 percent of the population in Madhya Pradesh belongs to the tribal category. Work is being done to control the genetic disease sickle cell anemia in tribal dominated areas. On November 15, 2021 on Tribal Pride Day, Prime Minister Modi launched the mission for the eradication of sickle cell in Bhopal. Under the mission, soon sickle cell control activities will be accelerated in 14 districts. Governor Patel appealed to the youth to advise tribal brethren to get tested for sickle cell anemia. With such efforts, sickle cell will be controlled. In inaccessible areas, children from deprived sections are also provided health services and nutrition through Anganwadi centres. With everyone’s development, faith and efforts, cent percent people tribal population can be tested for sickle cell anemia and only then we will be able to control this genetic disease. Governor Patel said that we are grateful to people who provided their services during the Corona period. Governor Patel expressed his gratitude for the important contribution of doctors, other health workers, government servants and voluntary organizations in controlling the disease during the Corona period as a result of the efficient leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the State Government is continuously working for better arrangements on various aspects of health. We are determined to provide the best healthcare facilities to the general public. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the work of upgradation of health services is going on continuously under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. As per the resolve of Prime Minister Modi, doctors and paramedical staff provided unprecedented services during the Corona period in Madhya Pradesh. The state government has done the work of providing excellent health services by increasing the facilities in the state. The health of the people could be protected. President Kovind has travelled to small countries of the world to give a message of peace and harmony. He is felicitated on behalf of eight and a half crore people of the state on his arrival in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the President could not come to Madhya Pradesh due to Corona, but now he has come after Corona has been brought under control, for which we are grateful.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that there was a dreadful situation of corona pandemic in Madhya Pradesh in the months of April and May. All those who are no more deserve our homage. Many families lost their members. For such children who lost their parents, an assistance amount of Rs. 5 thousand per month is being provided to them by launching Mukhyamantri Covid Bal Kalyan Yojana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi formed a team of scientists and doctors for corona control. The vaccine was manufactured and the corona pandemic was controlled. Along with India, many small nations got this vaccine as a gift. A self-reliant Madhya Pradesh plan has been prepared in Madhya Pradesh also under the resolve of Prime Minister Modi for self-reliant India. Efforts were made in the areas of infrastructure, health, education, good governance, administration. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the fundamental right to health protection is included in the Constitution for the citizens. A Mahayagya is going on under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, in which medical facilities are being expanded. Madhya Pradesh also had six medical colleges till a few years ago. Initiating the campaign to establish new medical colleges from Sagar, 13 new medical colleges were started and now three more medical colleges are also being set up soon. Facilities have also been increased in district hospitals and primary health centres and community health centres. Sanjeevani clinics are functioning in urban areas. About 2.75 crore Ayushman cards have been made for free treatment to the poor.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that in the programme organised in the forenoon today, the President expressed the need of work in the health sector with a holistic approach. Various medical systems are being used for better health of the public. Along with the teaching of yoga in schools, environmental and natural farming measures have been adopted for good health. The use of medicines made from forest products is also in vogue in the state. With all these measures, the work of protecting the health of the citizens and providing treatment is also being done. Efforts have been stepped up for sickle cell anaemia under the guidance of the Governor. Sickle Cell Anaemia Mission has also been launched, in which many activities are taking place. Chief Minister Chouhan expressed his gratitude for the dignified presence of President Kovind in the programme.
President Ram Nath Kovind performed the bhoomi poojan of 8 urban health institution buildings costing Rs. 154 crore 78 lakh 8 thousand and newly constructed buildings of 4 health institutions costing Rs. 72 crore 3 lakh 94 thousand by pressing the button from the remote. President Kovind performed bhoomi-poojan for the construction of Regional Institute of Respiratory Diseases with 182 bed capacity costing Rs. 55 crore 63 lakh, Centre of Excellence for Orthopaedic with 133 bed capacity costing Rs. 84 crore 94 lakh and Superintendent's Office and Central Drug Store building construction costing Rs. 32 crore 34 lakh.
President Kovind today performed bhoomi-poojan of building upgradation and construction work of Dewas District Hospital from 400 to 500 bed (cost 20 crore), Jabalpur District Hospital upgradation and construction work from 275 to 500 beds (cost 44 crore 78 lakh 8 thousand), 200 to 300 bed building upgradation and construction work of Sehore District Hospital and Shajapur district hospital (cost 20 crore each). Bhoomi-poojan of 100 bedded new civil hospital building construction work at Civil Hospital in Govindpura district Bhopal (cost 20 crore), building upgradation and construction work of 50 bedded each civil hospital building in Nanda Nagar and Kanadia district Indore (cost 10 crore each) and building upgradation and construction work (cost 10 crore) of Mahidpur district Ujjain's 34 bedded civil hospital to 50 bed.
President Kovind dedicated hospital building upgradation and construction work of District Hospital Morena from 300 to 600 bed costing Rs. 60 crore 54 lakh and 10 KLD ETP plant costing Rs. 34 lakh 70 thousand in District Hospital Guna. In the programme, upgradation work in 50 bedded civil hospital building of Bamor district Morena and construction of residential houses worth Rs. 10 crore 65 lakh 12 thousand and 10 bedded HDU / ICU establishment cost of Rs 50 lakh 12 thousand in Civil Hospital Ambah district Morena were dedicated.
Medical Education Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang delivered the welcome address. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the journey of upgradation of health institutions and expansion of health services is going on in the country and the state. Health services have been expanded to remote villages in Madhya Pradesh.
The programme was inaugurated by President Kovind by lighting the lamp. President Kovind was welcomed by Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan by presenting Anga-Vastram and bouquet of flowers. First Lady Smt. Savita Kovind was welcomed by Sadhna Singh. Health Minister Dr. Prabhuram Choudhary proposed vote of thanks.
