Governor Patel holds talks with senior officers of six departments on PESA Act provisions
Bhopal 03 June 2022: Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that the essence of PESA Act is to protect the rights of the actual owner of resources. He has expected the officers to make arrangements in accordance with this essence in the provisions of the Act.
Governor Patel was discussing the provisions of PESA Act with the senior officials of the Tribal Cell, Raj Bhavan and the concerned six departments. The meeting took place in two sessions. In the first session, discussion was held on the provisions related to the Department of Forest, Scheduled Caste Welfare and Tribal Affairs, and in the second session, discussion was held on the provisions related to the Department of Health and Family Welfare, School Education and Women and Child Development.
Governor Patel said that the tribal society is the protector of forests. Mostly the forests with tribal population are safe. He said that proper arrangements should be made for protection of tribal interests in the activities of all the departments in the tribal-dominated development block. A presentation was made by the concerned department before the Governor Patel on the provisions of the PESA Act.
In the first session, Forest Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, Tribal Cell President Deepak Khandekar, Principal Secretary Forest Ashok Barnwal, Principal Secretary to Governor D.P. Ahuja, in-charge Principal Secretary Tribal Affairs Department Deepali Rastogi, Managing Director State Minor Forest Produce Association Pushkar Singh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Development Chittaranjan Tyagi were present.
