Pay adequate attention to planning and training in Dastak Abhiyan: Health Commissioner

Bhopal 04 July 2022: Adequate attention should be paid to preparing the action plan and training the staff associated with the campaign before the Dastak campaign. Health Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade said this at the inaugural session of the workshop of Dastak Abhiyan. A workshop was conducted in connection with the preparations for the campaign.
Health Commissioner Dr. Khade said that the officers of the Health Department should prepare an action plan keeping the health resources in mind. He said that attention should also be paid to training along with better planning,. Quality training leads to better results at the implementation level. The Health Commissioner said that the campaign has to be made really effective. Documentation of the entire process of the campaign should also be done.
Health Commissioner Dr. Khade said that publicity should be done using accessible means to deliver the message in rural areas. Also systematic documentation of the campaign is must. MD NHM Smt. Priyanka Das gave a presentation related to the Dastak campaign. She said that this year we have to conduct the campaign with full preparation.
She informed that the campaign aims to proactively identify and manage major childhood diseases in children up to the age of 5 years, so that child mortality can be reduced. In the campaign, a joint team of ANM, ASHA and Anganwadi worker will visit the homes of families with children up to the age of 5 years to check the health of the children and ensure the identification, proper treatment and management of diseases. Activities mainly including identification, management and referral of pneumonia in infancy and childhood, proactive identification, referral and management of severely malnourished children, active screening and management of severe anemia in children in the 6 months to 5 year age group, proactive screening and management of congenital malformations in children will be done by the Dastak team. The Dastak team will inquire about the vaccination status of partially vaccinated and children who have left out in the vaccination, during the home visit. Dastak team will increase awareness regarding prevention of diarrheal disease.
