Soil testing laboratories to be set up for facilities to farmers

Bhopal: Total 265 soil testing laboratories will be opened for providing facility to farmers in the state. At present building of 205 soil testing laboratories have already constructed. The rest are under construction. Total 85.19 lakh soil testing cards have been distributed to farmers in the state. The target has been set for distribution of 88.72 lakh soil testing cards.

 In a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today at Mantralaya for structure of soil testing laboratories, staff and operation, it was informed that micro element of the soil will be tested in the laboratories. The test will help farmers in selection of right crop, putting fertilizer in appropriate quantity and planning right seed. The Chief Minister instructed to ensure contant of field staff with farmers so that the latter can get guidance. He instructed that there is a need to inform farmers more and more so that they can make agriculture a profit making business by starting farming at right time.

 Agriculture minister Dr Gaurishankar Shejwar, chief secretary BP Singh, additional chief secretary AP Shrivastava, agriculture production commissioner PC Meena, principal secretary, agriculture Dr Rajesh Rajora, principal secretary to chief minister, Ashok Warnaval, secretary to chief minister Vivek Agrawal and senior officers were present.-WTN
