Decision to Give Subsidy of Rs. 8700 Crore to Consumers on Electricity Tariff

Bhopal: Cabinet meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has decided to give subsidy of Rs. 8700 crore to consumers on electricity tariff implemented for the fiscal year 2017-18 by the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission. Payment of subsidy amount will be paid by the state government to the concerned power companies. Benefit of Rs. 8400 crore will be availed by maximum agriculture consumers by this decision.

As a result of this decision, subsidy of Rs. 1.10 per unit will be given to domestic consumers up to one hundred watt using 30 units monthly electricity and 20 paisa per unit to domestic consumers consuming electricity up to 50 units. An electricity bill of Rs. 1400 per horse power per annum will have to be paid by the flat rate agriculture consumers of permanent connections. The balance payment will be fulfilled by the state government from the subsidy. Similarly, electricity will be provided free to agriculture consumers up to 5 horse power belonging to scheduled caste and tribe holding one hectare land. Moreover subsidy of Re. One and seventy five paisa per unit will be given to agriculture consumers having permanent connections. Complete burden of fixed monthly charges and FCA will be borne by the state government and subsidy will be continued for agriculture consumers of permanent and temporary connections.

Cabinet has decided to give subsidy at the rate of Rs. 95 per kilo watt per month on fixed charges of low tension street lights schemes of nagar palika and nagar panchayats. High tension lift and group irrigation consumers will be exempted from annual minimum charges. Also, subsidy of Re. 1.90 per unit will be given in power charges. No electricity charges will be taken from scheduled caste and tribe single 1.25 paisa per unit will be given to power loom consumers up to 25 hp.

Furthermore, cabinet has decided to expand fixed due date of short term agriculture loan of Kharif season being given to farmers without interest through cooperative banks for 2016-17 from February 28 to March 28, 2017.

The cabinet has decided to appoint a technical member for fast redressal of pending cases in Madhya Pradesh Madhyastham Adhikaran. Similarly, decision to sanction one advance salary increment for computer trained officers/employees (who have obtained training before September 26, 2014) working in main bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court and Jabalpur, Indore and Gwalior bench. Decision to sanction 19 new posts of deputy registrar, inspectors and date entry operator for Registrar Firms and Societies' office has been taken by the cabinet.-WTN
