Over 2.50 Lakh Students Benefitted under Smart Phone Scheme

Bhopal: In order to facilitate student for better utilization of information and Technology, 2 lakh 53 thousand 871 smart phones have been provided to the students enrolling in first semester under the Smart Phone scheme till date. A total of One lakh 21 thousand 138 smart phones and One lakh 32 thousand 733 to the students of academic session 2014-15 and 2015-16 respectively have been distributed.

It may be mentioned that process of admission till obtaining mark sheets has been made online by the Higher Education department to facilitate students. Students can also deposit fee online. A target has been set to provide wi-fi facility in all the colleges and universities. Wi-Fi facility has been provided in 264 colleges and all the universities so far. This facility will be provided in new 100 colleges in current year. Beside this digital network facility has been provided in 177 colleges.

Moreover, virtual classes are being conducted in 101 colleges of the state. Over 606 and 142 e-lectures were held at under graduate and post graduate level respectively. Smart class rooms are being developed in government colleges for education arrangements with modern techniques. E-libraries are being made to provide study material online to the students. Moreover, e-libraries in 188 colleges of the state have been established.

It is to be highlighted that Higher Education department is working on the concept of paperless office. All the letters and directives are being sent and received online. Also, ‘Secure E-Mail Service’ has been started. Bio-Metric machines are being installed in all the colleges to ensure on time presence of officers-employees of the department. Principals of leading colleges and Regional Additional Directors have been linked with Commissioner Higher Education Office with skype for constant monitoring of schemes.

According to views and ideas of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the concept of Digital India is being embodied in every sector in the state. An effective initiative has been taken under the competent leadership of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for use of information and technology.-WTN
