Raise Purchase Limit of Summer Moong–Urad upto 1.50 lakh Metric Tonne in M.P.

Bhopal: Minister for Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Gouri Shankar Bisen informed about the remarkable works undertaken in Madhya Pradesh for agriculture development and farmers welfare in Agriculture Ministers’ meeting of the states held at New Delhi today. Meeting was presided by the Union Minister for Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh. Deliberations mainly on Rashtriya Krishi Bazaar and progress of soil health cards took place in the meeting.

Bisen said that farmers have been encouraged in the state for sowing summer moong-urad to make them economically strong. Moong and Urad is being procured from the farmers under price support scheme. A total of One lakh 13 thousand metric tonne moong-urad has been purchased from the farmers till date. He urged that purchase limit of moong-urad should be raised to one lakh 50 thousand lakh metric tonne in the interest of the farmers of M.P. Moong-urad is being procured after verification of moong-urad sowed area in Madhya Pradesh.

Bisen informed in the meeting that 58 krishi upaj mandis have been included in Madhya Pradesh under the E-National Agriculture market Scheme till date. Under the scheme, trade of 6 lakh quintal agriculture produces of One crore 41 lakh farmers with 17 thousand 900 licensed traders has been carried out through e-platform.

Bisen further mentioned that a campaign is being launched to provide soil health cards obtaining grid based samples from the agriculture fields of the farmers. In the first phase of 2015-16, 104 percent soils’ samples more than the target were collected and soil health cards were provided to the farmers analyzing 102.55 percent samples.

Moreover, deliberations on proposed Rashtriya Mandi Niti took place in the meeting. Union Government placed a proposal to enact Mandi Act. Bisen informed that condition of mandis in the state is better than mandis of other states. We are in the process of making ideal mandis in the state. He further said that farmers’ seminars are being organized in the state. Meal at the rate of Rs. 5 is being provided to needy persons in the state.

Minister Bisen also met Union Minister for Textile Smt. Smriti Irani. Bisen held discussions about weavers of the state especially about Balaghat and tribal areas. Smt. Irani accepted an invitation extended by Bisen for a visit to Balaghat on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.-WTN
