Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has become the country’s first state where the patients are getting good treatment without putting too much burden on their pocket. Free examination, treatment, transport alongwith free meal to patients admitted in government hospitals is being provided in state. At least 5 crore in OPDs and 52 lakh patients affected by various diseases have got admitted in state hospitals and have taken health services. Madhya Pradesh has been given the award at the National Summit on health innovations being held at Indore.
Over 400 types of medicines are available for distribution in hospitals of the state. Most commonly used generic medicines are being made available free of cost in hospitals round the clock. 48 types of free tests in District Hospital, 32 in Civil Hospital, 16 in Primary Health Centre and 5 in Gram Arogya Kendra are being conducted. Dialysis facility is being given to BPL patients free of charge and to APL patients at a meager rate of Rs 500 per session. Otherwise patients had to spend nearly Rs 20,000-25,000 in a month for it. There is a free diabetes clinic also for diabetics. Free cancer treatment and chemotherapy is available in all districts.
Sanjivani-108 ambulance service is available in all districts. Five-year-old ambulance vehicles are being replaced. Free-of-cost transport facility is available for transporting pregnant women to and from hospitals. There are geriatric wards for free examination and treatment of patients above 60 in every district. Mental patients are being given 13 types of free medicines. Nearly 30 thousand patients are being given breakfast and two meals free every day. There are schemes like State Illness Assistance-Fund, Chief Minister’s Child Heart Treatment Scheme, Bal Shravan Yojana, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana etc. for people with serious ailments.
Free treatment facility is being given to TB patients. School children diagnosed with weak eyesight in eye test camps are provided free spectacles. Roshni Clinic has been set up in district hospitals for women with serious ailments.-WTN
