Scheme to Increase Participation of Women in Agriculture

Bhopal: In order to increase women participation in agriculture sector, 1038 self help groups of women agriculturists were formed in the state during last year. Inter district training camps were also organized to impart training to these women agriculturists.

Beside this, a training to adopt modern agriculture techniques was imparted to 1555 women agriculturists. An amount of Rs. 4.50 crore was spent on this scheme last year. In the current year a sum of Rs. 6 crore has been earmarked for this scheme.

Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development department has started the scheme in the state with an objective to increase women participation in agriculture sector. The scheme has been launched to bring improvement in living standard of women agriculturists and to facilitate them to choose and understand low cost agriculture techniques besides its adoption.-WTN
