8 Government Territories Selected for Organic Seeds Production

Bhopal: In order to encourage organic certification process and organic seeds production, 8 government territories having about 251 hectare agriculture suitable land have been selected completely for organic seeds production programme.The selected territories include Dindori, Bhomakatiya - Seoni district, Delakhari - Chhindwara district, Garhi - Balaghat district, Chandrakeshar -Dewas district, Mahuakheda - Gwalior district, Jobat - Alirajpur and Gudgaon - Betul district. Beside this a work to establish Organic Research Centre in the state is in progress.
It may be mentioned that Madhya Pradesh Jaivik Niti has been implemented from May 11, 2011 in order to encourage organic farming in the state. Later on Jaivik Kheti Vikas Parishad has been formed on March 3, 2014. Further, 12th Five Year Plan has been started in the year 2012-13 to encourage organic farming. Under this 32 blocks of 16 districts namely Alirajpur, Jhabua, Betul, Khandwa, Sagar, Damoh, Chhindwara, Mandla, Balaghat, Umaria, Dindori, Katni, Anuppur, Sheopurkalan, Bhopal and Sehore have dbeen selected. According to the directives of National Green Tribunal (NGT), scheme has been implemented in 5 blocks of 5 districts to encourage organic farming under the National Agriculture Development Scheme.
Later on the schemes will be expanded to 7 blocks of 7 districts. The organic farming development programme has been implemented mainly on the banks of river Narmada. Moreover, separate platforms have been made in Krishi Upaj Mandis for marketing organic produces.-WTN
