Three Lakh M.T. Pulses Crops Purchased on MSP from 1.53 Lakh Farmers

Over Rs. 500 Crore Payment Made to Farmers above than Prevalent Rates
Bhopal: Summer crops of Moong, Urad and Arhar are being purchased on support price from the farmers in the state. Purchase of summer urad and moong from June 10 and tuar from June 13 has begun in the state.
A total of 3,06,915 metric tonne of pulses crops worth Rs. 1,522 crore has been purchased by the state government on support price from 1,53,649 farmers from June 10 till date. An additional payment of Rs. 503.17 crore has been made by the government to these farmers on the rates above than the prevalent rates in mandis.
The prevalent rate of moong is Rs. 3300 per quintal whereas the support price is Rs. 5,225. A total of 1,93,480 M.T. Moong worth Rs. 1010.93 crore has been purchased from 92,468 farmers till date. In this manner an additional amount of Rs. 371.50 crore has been paid to the farmers on purchase of moong.
Under the Price Stabilisation Fund scheme, 25, 570 M.T. Urad worth Rs. 127.50 crore from 13,132 farmers has been purchased at the rate of Rs. 5000 per quintal, whereas the prevalent rate in mandi is Rs. 4100 per quintal. An additional amount of Rs. 22.95 crore has been paid to the farmers over the prevalent rates of mandis.
Keeping in view the ample production of Arhar in the state, 68,085 M.T. Arhar worth Rs. 305.51 crore has been purchased at the rate of Rs. 5,050 per quintal from 24,399 farmers. Accordingly, an additional benefit of Rs. 91.91 crore has been provided to the farmers in comparison to rate of Rs.3700 per quintal prevalent in the mandis.
Furthermore, 19,780 M.T. Masoor worth Rs. 78.21 crore at the rate of Rs. 3,950 per quintal has been purchased from 8,050 farmers under the Price Stabilisation Fund scheme. In this way, an additional payment of Rs. 16.81 crore has been made to the farmers against a prevalent rate of Rs. 3,100 per quintal in the mandis.-WTN
