Big Relief to Farmers Owing to Onion Purchase on Support Price

Bhopal: Farmers are not only getting profitable value of onion owing to purchase of onion by the state government on support price but an atmosphere of sorrowfulness in their houses transformed into exuberance. Crore of rupees has been paid procuring 13 lakh 59 thousand 654 quintal from 23 thousand 487 farmers of Ujjain district and 13 thousand 455 quintal on support price from 501 farmers of Neemuch district.
Satyanarayan Chowdhary, a farmer of Ingoriya village district Ujjain said that purchase of onion on support price by the state government has given a big relief to the farmers amidst fear of declining price owing to bumper crop and deterioration of onion. He further mentioned that he was facing huge problem to sell 400 quintal onion produced at his farm in the market. Tension was increasing day by day. In such a situation, the state government has purchased around 300 quintal onion from him and the amount has been received by him in his bank account within 10-15 days. He is at peace now.
Farmer Ramkaran of Tajpur village –Tarana tehsil sold 186 quintal onion, Rambabu of Kapeli sold 600 quintal and Rameshwar Patidar sold 250 quintal onion at support price. They have also received the payment in time. Moreover Suraj Singh of Harsodan village, Shri Vasudev Sharma of Mahidpur, Narendra Singh of Bilkheda, Manishankar of Aanjna Makdon beside several other farmers blessed state government for helping them to get out of this problem. Onion worth about Rs. 70 crore was purchased at support price under the leadership of collector Sanket Bhondwe of Ujjain. Also meal at the minimal rate of Rs. 5 was arranged for the farmers by the district administration.
Pannalal, a farmer of village Maheshpuriya district Neemuch is happy that the state government has purchased 200 quintal onion from him and has paid the amount through RTGS. Farmer Laxman Singh of Gwaltoli village is jubilant to receive double price of their produce. Before the purchase on support price, he sold onion at the rate of Rs. 4 per k.g. in the open market with great difficulties. Moreover, Vikram Singh of Matyakhedi received the amount of Rs. One lakh 18 thousand from the state government against his 186 quintal onion within 2 days. He mentioned that the farmers are getting fair price of onion at the initiative of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the onion has been saved from the deterioration. Farmers in large number are benefitted by the state government.-WTN
