Implementation of Card System for Meter Readers being Mulled

Bhopal: Minister for Energy Paras Jain said that implementation of card system is being mulled in order to ensure presence of employees engaged in meter reading work. This initiative has been taken keeping in the view the complaints received from the consumers as regard to the meter readers. Several consumers have complained that electricity bills are being provided to them without taking meter reading. Jain was addressing the Advisory Committee meeting of Energy department at Committee Room located in Vidhan Sabha today. Members of the Committee MLAs Subedar Singh Rajodha, Balvir Singh Dandotiya, Harsh Yadav and Smt. Usha Thakur were present in the meeting.

Jain told the officers that electricity lines of rural areas should be repaired immediately in case of any fault. Electricity availability and its transmission should not be obstructed. Faulty transformers should be replaced within 3 days during normal days and within 7 days maximum during the rainy season. He issued instructions to take stern action against the persons for not paying attention on time limit. He further stated that trained linemen should be posted in rural areas. Remaining complaints out of the complaints received during the Bijli Panchayat held last month should be redressed immediately. Officers should also pay attention on complaints lodged by the public representatives. Process for improvement in electricity field should be continued, he added.

Members in the meeting suggested various measures for improvement in electricity arrangements. Managing Director Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Sanjay Shukla, Managing Director Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company M. Selvendram, Managing Director Pashchim Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Akash Tripathi, Managing Director of Poorva Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Mukesh Chandra Gupta and other officers were present on the occasion.-WTN
