Nutrition smart villages to be developed – WCD Minister Smt. Chitnis

Bhopal: Women and Child Development (WCD) Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis said that Agriculture and related departments along with the Women and Child Development Department would have to make coordinated efforts to control malnutrition in state. Smt. Chitnis was presiding over a meeting of experts for the implementation of the concept of nutrition smart village.
WCD Minister Smt. Chitnis said that the villages can be relieved of malnutrition by fulfilling the needs of villagers with local harvest through agriculture and subsidiary activities. She told that work on this scheme has been started. The plan is to develop one village in each project as nutrition smart village in coordination with Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
Agriculture scientists from different districts gave a presentation of the work-plan on the occasion. Among those who were present at the meeting included Principal Secretary Women and Child Development J.N. Kansotia, ICDS Project Director Smt. Nidhi Nivedita, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Zone -7 Atari Director, Agriculture Scientist Anupam Mishra and officials of Director Krishi Udyaniki, Animal Husbandry Department.-WTN
