Cent percent villages of Alirajpur and Khargone vacated

Bhopal: Relocation is being undertaken speedily in Sardar Sarovar affected Badwani, Dhar, Alirajpur and Khargone regions. Shifting of cent percent affected families from 26 affected villages of Alirajpur and 10 villages of Khargone districts has been completed. Informing this, Vice Chairman of Narmada Valley Development Authority Shri Rajneesh Vaish told that some elements are misleading public regarding submerging area and displacement. It is stated that there are 192 affected villages and 36000 affected families, which is false. In fact, total 178 villages of Dhar, Badwani, Alirajpur and Khargone districts are partially under the effect of submergence. They include 77 villages of Dhar, 65 villages of Badwani, 26 villages of Alirajpur and 10 villages of Khargone. There are 23614 affected families in these villages and out of these, 5551 families have settled in Gujarat. Remaining 18,063, 12577 families have already relocated.

 At present, 7010 families of 37 villages of Dhar and 34 villages of Badwani districts are yet to be shifted at other locations. Vaish informed that Sardar Sarovar dam will be filled in phase-manner.

 It is to be highlighted that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has sanctioned a package of Rs 5.80 lakh for each family being relocated. The families not having own house, will be provided temporary houses at rehabilitated places. Total 2014 remaining families, who are yet to be shifted, already have houses at other locations. The State government will incur an expenditure of Rs 900 crore on package announced by the Chief Minister.-WTN
