Immersion of POP idols will make water poisonous

Bhopal: Water at the immersion spot becomes poisonous due to the ill-effects of idols made of POP and chemical colours. The consumption of this water may lead to diseases of the kidney and lungs. POP statues do not dissolve in water easily which is also a sign of disrespect of the gods. This information was given during the divisional level training programme held at the EPCO auditorium organized by Environment and Planning Coordination Organisation. Master trainers, sculptors, students from various schools of Bhopal and teachers took part in the programme.

Principal Secretary Anupam Rajan told that EPCO organized statue training programme in Jabalpur, Indore, Ujjain, Rewa and Bhopal division today. Training was given in making small size Ganesh statues made of clay and natural colours. Participants were given the statues made on the concept of “Aao Banao aur Ghar le jao” free-of-cost. Last year nearly 6000 statues were made by EPCO in Bhopal due to which there was a major reduction in poison in the water after immersion.
Participants were taught the art of preparing clay before making the statues.

Trainees were told that they can add sieved ash, brick powder or sand in the black clay so that the statue does not break easily. They were advised to add gum-paste in the sand mixed clay. In place of chemical based colours, they were advised to use Geru for red colour, Chawal-khadia for white, yellow clay for yellow and other natural colours made from Ramsaras etc.-WTN
