Now swine flu medicine will be available with the chemist also

Bhopal: Tamiflu, a medicine given for treatment of swine flu will now be available in all drug stores of the state. The swine flu drugs Oseltamivir and Zanamivir have been removed from schedule x list of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules 1945 by the Ministry of Union Health and Family Welfare and included it in schedule-H-1 list.
Earlier when swine flu was in schedule-x list, a separate license was given for it.

This drug was kept locked, separate from other drugs in hospitals obtaining license for it. Now after inclusion in H-1 list, the drug will be available with retail drug stores also and relatives of patients can now purchase it from the chemist on producing doctor’s prescription. Chemists will not have to obtain a separate license for it now.

In case the validity of license ends, the stockiest can now purchase the drug from wholesale dealers. Welcoming the decision Sumit Agarwal of Garg Medical Store of Bhopal said that this will ensure prompt service to swine flu patients. Chhatarpur’s chemist Sunil Choubey said that swine flu affects a patient very fast, at such a time easy availability of the drug can prove to be a boon to tackle a dangerous disease like swine flu.-WTN
