201 Hostels Functioning to Promote Education Among Girls

Over 20 Thousand Girls Pursuing Study in Hostels
Bhopal: In order to increase the literacy among women in the state, a special focus has been laid by the School Education department on girls’ education. Keeping in account the literacy rate, a total of 201 blocks are lagging behind in the state. Girls’ hostel scheme has been implemented by the Union Government in order to promote education in these blocks.
Under the Hostel scheme, approval has been given for 201 girls hostels from 2009-10 till date. Over 20 thousand girls are pursuing studies in these hostels which housed accommodation facility. Building construction work of the hostels are being carried out by Public Works Department. Construction of 146 girls hostels have been completed by the department so far.-WTN
