Sufficient Arrangements in State’s Hospitals to Tackle Swine Flu and Dengue

Bhopal: Isolation wards have been made in all the districts of the state to tackle swine flu and dengue. Beside this sufficient arrangements have been made in all the medical colleges of the state for swine flu and dengue treatment. Commissioner Health Smt. Pallavi Jain reviewed the activities of these wards active since last month through video conferencing today. Subject Expert and Head of the Department Gandhi Medical College Dr. Lokendra Dave and Microbiologist of AIIMS Dr. Devashish Vishwas gave presentation on guidelines prescribed by the Government of India as regard to infectious diseases, prevention from swine flu and treatment etc. to Civil Surgeons cum Chief Hospital Superintendent of all the districts, Medical Specialists and Block Medical Officers. Moreover, the guidelines have been sent to all the districts at the instructions of Principal Secretary Health.

Director Health Dr. Sahu informed that 10 beds in hospitals having more than 300 bed capacity, 5 beds in hospitals with the capacity of 100 to 300 beds and 2 beds in hospitals with the capacity of 50 beds have been kept reserved for swine flu patients. Alert towards swine flu has been sent to all the hospitals in the state keeping in view the increasing number of patients in neighboring states. This is the reason that maximum number of patients became healthy and fit owing to effective prevention. Only one person has died as he was brought late to the hospital.

Swine Flu Ward Functional in J.P. Hospital since July 18

Permanent ward has been made for treatment of swine flu and dengue patients in J.P. hospital since last few years. The ward has been shifted to ground floor from first floor which is functional since July 18. All the facilities towards pathology tests beside treatment of patients including ventilator are available in the hospital. 7 bed isolation swine flu ward and 10 bed dengue ward have been made. There is sufficient arrangements in ward for nursing staff, medicines, equipments, suction machine, VTN Kit, PPE Kit, N-95 Mask, Plain Mask, Gloves, B.P. Instrument, O.T. Gas Flow Meter, E-Pad Monitor, Temi-Flu medicines beside other essential medicines. Moreover, a separate OPD has been made for swine flu patients so that normal patients should not come in their contact. A total of 167 patients have been examined in the OPD till date. Out of these, treatment of one possible patient of C category is being undertaken from August 9 hospitalizing him in the isolation ward.

Do Not Panic, Be Cautious About Swine Flu

Dr. Lokendra Dave inspected the swine flu ward at J.P. Hospital today and imparted training to the nurses. He informed that there is no need to panic about swine flu.

Swine flu virus are effective till a distance of 4 feet from patient. Clean your hands thoroughly with sanitiser after administering medicines to the patient. He further mentioned that a plain mask is sufficient for prevention from disease. Dr. Dave also demonstrated proper way to wear mask. He stated that virus becomes inactive naturally after two hours from disposal of mask.

Directions were issued to the concerned districts by the Health department today again reviewing daily status of Dengue, Swine Flu and Chikungunya and other diseases.-WTN
