Number of swine flu patients in Madhya Pradesh less than border states Health Department conducting daily review

Bhopal: Lesser cases are reporting in the state as compared to neighbouring states because of vigilance about swine flu cases in advance by the state government. In last one week, around 1000 cases of H1-N1 were reported in border states Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, whereas only five cases were reported in Madhya Pradesh in this week.
Health minister Dr Rustam Singh has appealed to people travelling these states to maintain extra alert. The health minister said that the people, who are returning from these states, should not ignore cold, throat pain, headache, fever and difficulty in breathing. They should take immediately medical examination in nearby health centre. Protection is only treatment of H1-N1 infection.
Daily review is being made by health department in cases of swine flu, dengue, malaria and chikungunya etc. Total 143 samples of suspected swine flu patients were collected in period from July 1 to August 13. Out of them, reports have been received in 140 cases and they include 28 swine flu patients. Report of three patients are yet to be received. Five deaths have been reported from swine flu in the state.
Monitor and pulse oximetre are available in Hamidia hospital
Necessary monitor and pulse oximetre and medicines are available for swine flu treatment in Hamidia hospital in Bhopal. Nurses involved in treatment of swine flu have been asked to use mask, gloves and apron. N-95 mask should be used at the time of collecting swab sample and ventilator tube.
Ten-bed isolated ward in JP Hospital since 2009
Ten-bed isolated ward has been opened in JP Hospital for swine flu patients in 2009 by the state government. Earlier, this ward was at the first floor and now it has been shifted at ground floor. Patients of Bhopal and surrounding districts are getting immediate treatment here. Separate OPD has been opened from August 2 there and its timing is 8 am to 2 pm and 2 pm to 8 pm.-WTN
