First enthralling cycle tour of the state to take off today

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is organizing a first-of-its-kind cycling tour in the state. A 400 km long four-day cycle tourism ‘Tour de Satpura’ is being organised by the board. This interesting adventure cycling tourism being organized from August 19 to 22 will have 42 participants from Sweden, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and other states.
Tourism Secretary and M.D. Tourism Board Hariranjan Rao said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state of the country that is organizing this enthralling cycling tourism event. The main objective of organizing the event is to promote eco-friendly tourism besides promotion of Madhya Pradesh tourist spots by cycle tourists from all over the country and abroad. The ‘Tour de Satpura” beginning from Ramakona village in Chhindwara district on August 19 will pass through captivating green valleys and pleasing roads of Satpura. Cycle riders covering a distance of 97 km from Chhindwara will reach Tamia first. They will visit the famous Patalkot here and restart their journey in the morning of day two to reach Pachmarhi covering a distance of 81 km passing through undulating and beautiful hillocks of Satpura. On day 3, the participants will cover a distance of 120 km to reach Madhai of Hoshangabad district passing through Pipariya and Sohagpur.
Besides, on day 4, the final day of the journey participants will cover a distance of 94 km to reach Tawa Dam passing through Babai and Itarsi. Concluding ceremony will be held at Tawa Resort where winners and participants will be awarded with prizes and certificates respectively. Renowned cyclists will share their experiences and their views on various aspects of cycling every evening during the tour.

First Indian Solo Finisher Cyclist Dr. Anil Samarth of the world’s most challenging cycle race competition “Race Across America” (RAAM) will share his experiences on the second day of the competition. Dr. Samarth has been made the Brand Ambassador of “Tour de Satpura”.-WTN
