Decline of 5 Percent in Road Accidents and 4 Percent in Deaths Due to Road Accidents

Madhya Pradesh Road Safety Implementation Committee’s Meeting Held
Bhopal: Decline of 5 percent in road accidents in comparison to 2016 and decline of 4 percent in deaths caused by the road accidents has been registered in the state. This information was given in a meeting of Madhya Pradesh Road Safety Implementation Committee held at Mantralaya today. Additional Chief Secretary Home K.K. Singh presided over the meeting.
Construction of 9 Trauma Center Buildings in Progress
It was informed in the meeting that 32 trauma centers are functioning in the state and construction work of 9 trauma centers is in progress. In the current year, during the period from January to June, major operation of 2426 persons and minor operation of 9279 injured persons were conducted.
Over 200 Black Spots Revamped
Moreover, it was informed that over 200 black spots have been revamped by the MPRDC. NHAI has completed 5 long term black spots out of 7. All the short term black spots have been revamped.
Meeting of District Road Safety Committee Should be Held Regularly
.Furthermore, directives were issued in the meeting that Road Safety Committee meetings in the districts should be organized regularly. Road Safety Audit should be carried out. Executive Engineer should select the black spots along with the Police Station Officer. Information regarding helmet checking drive being conducted for the safety of two wheeler drivers should be presented.
Principal Secretary Transport S.N. Mishra, Transport Commissioner Shailendra Shrivastava, Additional Director General Police Vijay Katariya, Secretary Public Works C.P. Agrawal and Secretary Public Health and Family Welfare Kavindra Kiyawat were present in the meeting.-WTN
