Traders make online tax payment of over Rs 20,000 crores

Commercial Tax Department encourages online payments  

Bhopal: The Commercial Tax Department is encouraging online tax payments in Madhya Pradesh. In 2016-17, traders made online payments of more than Rs 20 thousand 860 crore. The department is receiving online statements also from the tax payers. Tax payers presented nearly 22 lakh online statements. 

The Commercial Taxes department has accepted the statements of around 3 lakh cases presented under the self-tax assessment as it is out of pending tax assessment cases related to tax arrear period 2016-17 for the convenience of tax payers. In this way, there is no need for the tax payers to visit the office now.

Moreover, a deemed tax assessment scheme has been started by the state government  in the state. Under the scheme, the annual turnover limit has been increased to Rs. 50 crore from Rs. 20 crore. Benefit of this scheme will be availed by the traders. Furthermore, samadhan yojana has been implemented in the state to settle pending arrear cases till 2011-12 under various rules in order to end tax dispute in the state. New commercial taxes circle offices have been started in Panna and Sheopur to provide more facilities to the tax payers.

State office of Goods and Service Tax 'GST Bhavan' has been constructed at Arera Hills, Bhopal. The construction work of GST Bhavans at Chhindwara, Vidisha and Damoh is being carried out speedily. Various sources are being utilised in the state in order to provide information on GST rules. A total of 271 seminars were organised in the state in October- November 2016. spread awareness about the GST from the time of GST migration in the state. Under the 2nd phase, 425 programmes were held in the month of May and June 2017 with cooperation of  Central Excise Duty department at various places of the state. The commercial taxes department has on its own organised programmes in the form of seminar out of these programmes. Problems redressing camps are still being organised by the department. Information on solution for difficulties being faced on GST by the traders of the state is being provided. Also helpdesk service has been started in the offices by the department.-WTN
