Scheme to double farmers’ income included in Sankalp se Siddhi programme

Bhopal: Lok Sabha Speaker Smt. Sumitra Mahajan on Wednesday dedicated the regional office building of the State Agriculture Marketing Board in Indore. Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Gaurishankar Bisen chaired the programme.

Lok Sabha Speaker Smt. Mahajan said on the occasion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated to give a new direction to integrated development through Sankalp se Siddhi programme. This programme is working on the scheme to double the income of farmers by year 2022. Government of India is making all out efforts to usher agriculture towards modernisation and make farming a beneficial profession. It is making efforts to ensure that the farmer gets full benefit of his hard work.

Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Gaurishankar Bisen said that every possible effort is being made to make the farmer prosper in Madhya Pradesh. Keeping the welfare of the farmers in mind, the state government has taken the decision to launch the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana in the month of September. He said that at present eight varieties of Kharif crops have been included in the scheme in the form of pilot project. Later it will be implemented for Rabi crops also. Bisen gave detailed information about the schemes related to the development of farming and farmers.

Earlier Agriculture Department officials said that the regional office building of Agriculture Marketing Board in Indore has been constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crores on 20,000 square feet land. Apart from office system, there is a soil testing laboratory also in the building.-WTN
