Action will be taken against patients relatives for manhandling, violence in hospitals

Bhopal: Action will be taken against relatives of patients or deceased who engage in violence and manhandling in both government and private hospitals of the state under Protection of Doctors and Individuals related to Medical Service in Madhya Pradesh Act-2008. There is provision of 3 months imprisonment or Rs 10,000 fine or both for such persons under the Act.
Director Health Services said that there have been several incidents of violence in both government and private hospitals and manhandling of doctors and paramedical staff by relatives of patients following their death recently. Several times victims in serious accident cases are brought dead to hospitals but as soon as the doctor declares the victime dead, relatives resort to violence and manhandling. This is sheer violation of the Act.-WTN
