Services of Smt. Shashi Karnawat Terminated

Bhopal: Services of an Indian Administrative Officer of 1999 batch Smt. Shashi Karnawat have been terminated. According to the order of the Government of India and in agreement with the advice of the Public Service Commission, Smt. Karnawat has been terminated from the services under the All India Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rule1969.
The case was registered by the State Economic Offenses Investigation Bureau in the year 1999-2000 against Smt. Karnawat in connection with the loss of around Rs. 33 lakhs to the state government and illegal profiteering in the printing work of the form. Smt. Karnawat was given a rigorous imprisonment of 5 years under section 13 (1) d and Section 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and the penalty of Rs 40 lakh, section 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Under 5 years of rigorous imprisonment and 5 lakh rupees fine and Section 120 'B' of Indian Penal Code, 5 years of rigorous imprisonment and 5 lakh rupees was penalized In September 2013by the Special Court Mandla on September 2013. After her imprisonment in Mandla jail, suspension orders were issued to Smt. Karnawat in October 2013.
In connection with the criminal offense, Smt. Karnawat was issued a Show Cause Notice in October 2014 due to the suspension from service under All India Services (Discipline and Appeal). Despite being given sufficient opportunity, the final and complete reply to the notice could not be presented by Smt. Karnawat. Therefore, the proposal to dismiss her from the service according to the rules was sent to the Government of India, in which the Union Public Service Commission agreed.
