Efforts accelerated for Dengue control

Bhopal: Efforts to control Dengue from spreading have been speeded up in state. So far 307 patients of Dengue have been found in state. Similarly, 173 cases of Chikugunia and 339 of Swine Flu have also been confirmed. This information was given during a daily review of Dengue, Chikungunia and Swine Flu by the Health Department.

Maximum 106 cases of Dengue in state have been found in Bhopal. Here 19 combined teams of the Health Department and Nagar Nigam are engaged in the work of survey and larvae destruction with the coordination of local corporators.

People are being urged to inform Dengue Control Room on telephone no. 0755-2542222 immediately on finding any larvae and dengue patient. On finding larvae constantly during survey, a fine of Rs 500 will be imposed on the concerned person.

Primary symptoms of Dengue

Dengue fever is transmitted by mosquitoes breeding in clean water. These mosquitoes bite in the daytime. Primary symptoms of Dengue include fever, headache, pain in muscles-joints, red rashes on hands, boils etc. should not be ignored. Concerned patient should be immediately taken to the doctor at the government hospital and given treatment.

Preventive measures to be taken

Empty containers filled with clean water at least once a week. Dry the containers thoroughly before filling them. Change old vetivar root pads (khas) in coolers. Use mosquitoe nets while sleeping and wear full-sleeved clothes. In places where water cannot be emptied, one may make use of kerosene oil or burnt engine oil. Do not allow mosquitoes to breed in and around the house.-WTN
