Country to celebrate Seva Divas on September 17

Bhopal: The entire country will celebrate Seva Divas on September 17. On this occasion shramdan will be offered for pits to be dug for one lakh toilets for construction of toilets on twin pit technique in Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will offer shramdan by digging pits for toilet construction in village Ratanpur of Mendhaki gram panchayat of Raisen district in the forenoon and later in the afternoon in village Kaneri of Surajpur gram panchayat in Chhatarpur district. Chouhan has called upon all public representatives, government servants, panchayat raj representatives and citizens in a large number to offer shramdan for the construction of toilets.

It may be noted that there were toilets in only 25.75 percent houses in the state in year 2013. This percentage is nearly 10 percent of the national average. At present there are toilets in 75.33 percent houses in state which is quite high than the national average of 68 percent.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the “Swachhata hi Seva campaign on September 15 on the third anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The campaign will continue till October 2, 2017 in the entire state. The campaign was inaugurated in Madhya Pradesh today by the Chief Minister by flagging off the Swachhata Rath in Bhopal.-WTN
