Madhya Pradesh expected to be ahead in next 10-12 years in agriculture sector

Bhopal:  Madhya Pradesh has done much better as compared to other states in agriculture sector that it is expected to be ahead in next 10-12 years too. Madhya Pradesh has also achieved a remarkable progress in energy sector. Madhya Pradesh is generating 60 to 65 percent energy of the country. The state should progress in non-agriculture sector also. Member of NITI Aayog Ramesh Chandra said this while addressing a meeting of heads of department today at Mantralaya. Expressing pleasure, Ramesh Chandra said that Madhya Pradesh is not only fulfilling prime minister's objectives but is carrying out noteworthy innovations also. Vice-chairman of State Planning Commission Chetanya Kashyap, advisor to the NITI Aayog Anil Shrivastava, additional chief secretary, forests, economy and statistics, Dipak Khandekar and chief advisor of the state planning commission, Rajendra Mishra were present on the occasion.

 Ramesh Chandra said that thrust areas for reforms are being informed to the states during state visits, along with shedding light on role of the NITI Aayog which has been constituted on the place of the National Planning Commission. Chandra said that previous planning commission used to allocate budget and the now new body is working as a think tank. This has brought focus on qualitative progress of the country. NITI Aayog stands for National Institution for Transforming India. He said that the states were not part of policy formation earlier in the planning commission. Now, the state has 60:40 and 50:50 role with the centre. The task of NITI Aayog is to help states in developing their efficiency along with monitoring and assessing the states' works. Madhya Pradesh has been included in top seven states for development rate. Madhya Pradesh government is the first in the country which has decided to compensate farmers for loss in production price in its cabinet but for balanced development, there is a need to lay focus on productivity in Madhya Pradesh.

 Giving detail of execution of national schemes, health, education etc. through power point presentation, advisor Anil Shrivastava informed about the sectors for more focus. He said that districts should have internal competition. Shrivastava said that Madhya Pradesh has better child sex ratio as compared to other states. He gave presentation on Prime Minister Housing Mission, Prime Minister Rural Road Scheme, Swachha Bharat Mission, energy, Uday Yojana, vaccination, literacy etc. Principal Secretary, Agriculture Welfare, Rajesh Rajora, giving presentation about price difference scheme of the state, informed that four lakh farmers will be connected with this scheme by October 11. This scheme is becoming an ideal one.

Centre government, Food Corporation of India, NAFED and Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan and other ten states have got information about the scheme. Power point presentations of health, education and energy departments were given before the commission.-WTN
