Crude Edible Oil Mills to be Established in All Villages: Minister Smt. Chitnis 
Day Long Seminar on Nutrition Literacy Concluded 

Bhopal: Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Archana Chitins said that sunlight is the main source of Vitamin-D and foundation of complete health. Culture for protection from sunlight can make people remain fair but this effects health and activeness. She mentioned that material like chatni and gur etc. are easily available and reasonable sources of various vitamins. Smt. Chitnis told to launch a campaign for establishment of crude edible oil mills in all the villages. She was addressing the daylong seminar on Nutrition Literacy. Renowned Nutrition Expert of the country Sushri Vandana Shiva and Dr. Rashmi Sharma also expressed their views in the seminar held at Samanvay Bhavan. Representatives of self help groups of Bhopal district, voluntary organizations also participated in the seminar held to give information on importance of nutrition and to eliminate confusion related to food to chefs of Bhopal’s hotels and hostels.

Smt. Chitnis mentioned that a person can obtain nutritious food elements easily by adopting eating habits linked with Indian traditions and culture. She gave information in interesting manner related to mixing of correct ingredients in meal system, to obtain vitamin and essential mineral elements from reasonable ingredients and develop attitude towards personal hygiene.

Addressing the seminar the internationally renowned environmentalist and nutrition expert Dr. Vandana Shiva said that we should become aware that 15 big companies of the world wish to earn profit from food. It is must to stop our food dishes becoming a medium of earning profits for these companies. Otherwise India will become a center for these food based companies and for dumping medicines. She further mentioned that we have to follow the path of Anna Swaraj. Sushri Vandana informed that malnutrition is increasing owing to missing varieties in our food. She further added that Ayurvedic system related to food is beneficial for the entire family. Moreover, she stressed on growing vegetables in each aaganwadi.

Nutrition Expert Dr. Rashmi Sharma of Jaipur said that use of traditional oils of India like mustard, sesame seed, coconut and groundnut should be encouraged. There is less chance of adulteration in these oils. Beside this, it will help providing employment to the citizens. Smt. Sharma further mentioned that we will remain healthy if we keep moving side by side with nature. She said that we should select our own nutrition and we should not ascertain our food as per the advertisement. Moreover, she laid emphasis on giving importance to traditional food system in place of industrial food.

Exhibition of nutrition materials by Agriculture science centers was also organized on the occasion.-WTN
