Cow sanctuary to be covered by bio-fence

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that effective attempts should be made to connect the society with the cow sanctuary. A campaign should be launched to obtain straw in donation for the sanctuary. This will help connect public sentiments with the sanctuary and it will also increase the participation of the society. He issued instructions to get bio-fencing done in the sanctuary. Chouhan was today reviewing the arrangements in the cow sanctuary at the Mantralaya. Chairman of Gaupalan evam Pashudhan Samvardhan Board working committee Swami Akhileshwaranand were present on the occasion.

CM Chouhan said that the cow sanctuary should be run with love and faith. Cow sanctuary is an attempt to serve human beings through gau-seva. The objective of the sanctuary will be successful only when there is active participation of the society. Necessary procedures and provisions should be fixed for public participation in running the sanctuary. Future to run sanctuary is dependent on self dependent functioning by the society. Research work should be carried out in the field of breed improvement, organic fertilizer and organic pest control. Cow progeny should be kept as per the capacity of the sanctuary. There should be adequate health examination and treatment. Fodder, drinking water and grass should be available in adequate quantity.

He instructed to form committee of district and state level officials of departments concerned with the sanctuary and conduct monthly review. He said that improvement in cow progeny and deliberations on research works is must for effective use of cow dung and cow urine etc. Efforts should be made in this direction after constituting a team of scientists. He told to consider an alternative for farmers’ participation in rearing healthy cow progeny.

It was told at the meeting that infrastructure worth more than Rs 20 crores has been constructed in the sanctuary. For the cow progeny, 24 sheds, 12 straw sheds, research centre, Panchganvya production centre, farmers training centre, residential premises, biogas plant, NADEP and earthworm compost production units and 10 kw capacity solar panels have been established.

Principal Secretary Public Works Department Pramod Agrawal, Water Resources Pankaj Agrawal, Public Health Engineering Manoj Govil, Animal Husbandry Department Ajit Kesari, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Ashok Vernawal, S.K Mishra, Commissioner Urban and Urban Development Vivek Agrawal, Divisional Commissioner Ujjain M.B. Ojha and other officers were also present on the occasion.-WTN
