42 lakh farmers covered under PM Crop Insurance Scheme in State
Insurance claim sanctioned to tune of Rs 55.50 crore to 43,850 farmers in Sehore district

Bhopal: Around 42 lakh farmers, the highest in the country, have been provided insurance cover under Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme in the state. Insurance claim for kharif 2016 were paid under the scheme. Insurance claim to the tune of Rs 55.50 crore was sanctioned in Sehore district to 43,850 farmers for kharif 2016 season. On an average, one farmer got insurance claim of Rs 12,657 in the district. But, the amount of claim varies due to variations in crop loss as per Patwari halka wise.

Insurance claim amount is decided on the basis of difference between five years average productivity (which is decided on crop cutting experiment) and actual crop production under the Prime Minister Insurance Scheme.
For example, the difference between actual crop and crop cutting in threshold produce in Patwari halka no 44 of Rehti block of Sehore district was just two kg per hectare. Insurance claim was very less because of this reason. It was higher insurance claim amount in Patwari region, where the difference between actual crop and crop cutting experiment in threshold produce was bigger.

For example, this difference was 319 kg per hectare in actual crop production and threshold crop in Patwari halka no 42 of the same block. Farmers of this area got higher insurance claim amount.

These farmers have got higher insurance claim due to higher level of crop loss in Sehore district and they include farmer Dashrath Singh, patwari halka no 41 of village Avantipura who received insurance claim of Rs 181345. Similarly, Rs 1,21,949 to farmer Manohar Singh Patwari, halka no 42 of village Mahodia, Rs 1,40,752 to farmer Ashok Kumar Gupta of Patwari halka no. 42 of village Mahodia, Rs 97480 to farmer Siddhanath Singh of Patwari halka no 47 of village Sangrampur, Rs 94697 to farmer Bharat Singh Gehlot of patwari halka no 52 of village Sangrampur, Rs 85732 to farmer Shersingh of Patwari halka no 35 of village Takipur, Rs 76,636 to farmer Parvat Singh of Patwari halka no. 64 of village Dhaboti and Rs 84,882 to farmer Narsingh of Patwari halka no. 68 of village Badnagar and Rs 66,539 to farmer Haricharan of Patwari halka no. 07 of village Semradangi were paid.

Thus, it is very clear that insurance claim is paid according to difference in five years crop cutting experiments and actual crop under the provision of Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme. Lesser insurance claim will be received in case of lesser difference in the crop cutting and more insurance claim is paid for the higher difference. The Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme is based on area wise. The scheme is not farmer-wise.-WTN
