Four Years Rigorous Imprisonment to International Skin Smuggler Shamim and his Gang

Bhopal: The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Narsingarh under the various sections of Wild Life (Protection) Act has pronounced judgment of 4 years rigorous imprisonment and awarded Rs. 10 thousand penalty each to International Skin Smuggler Shamim and his associates Badrilal Sapera, Mansingh, Prahalad and Raghuvir on their crime proved in the court. In case of non-payment of penalty, the culprits will have to face additional rigorous imprisonment of 6 months.

Shamim was Involved in Smuggling of Pangolin, Tiger and Leopard Skins worth Several Crore Rupees

The Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wild Life) Jitendra Agrawal informed that the STF team of the Forest department had handed over Shamim and his 5 associates to the court by arresting them with pangolin skin and sand boa in January-2017. Skins of these animals are sold at very high prices in the international market. Shamim during the interrogation had accepted the trade of 1200 leopard and 125 tiger skins at national and international level. Later on he was involved in smuggling of pangolin skin. Beside Madhya Pradesh, the police teams of other states were searching for him.

Raghuvir alias Kalicharan was arrested from Guna in the year 1988 with 129 skins of various animals but he succeeded in getting released. A case was registered against him in Ranthambore in the year 2005. Madhya Pradesh forest department succeeded for his imprisonment.-Windowtonews
