Directives issued to provide adequate irrigation facility to farmers

Bhopal: Public Relations, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Narottam Mishra got detailed information about status of water in reservoirs after deficit of rain in the state, during a discussion with departmental officers. Dr. Mishra said that action should be taken at departmental level to provide irrigation water as per need of farmers in the state. He issued instructions to provide adequate water for irrigation of rabi crops. Principal Secretary Water Resources Pankaj Agrawal told that 62 percent water is available in water reservoirs in the state. Sufficient water is available for irrigation of 23 lakh hectare area in Rabi season in the state.
 
Minister Dr. Mishra said that field staff should be instructed to provide water to farmers as per their need in the areas where farmers are getting irrigation water through canals.-Windowtonews
