Justice N.K. Gupta Appointed as Lokayukt

Bhopal: Justice N.K. Gupta has been appointed Lokayukt of Madhya Pradesh. The Governor O.P. Kohli will administer oath to Justice Gupta for the post of Lokayukt in Rajbhavan at 4.00 p.m. on October 18.

Introduction

Justice N.K. Gupta obtained degree in M.Sc. (Maths) and L.LB (Honours) from Indore University. He secured second position in L.LB (Honours) in the university. Justice Gupta was appointed as judge on August 1979 and became judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court on May 03, 2010. 

Earlier to this, Justice Gupta carried out remarkable works rendering services on the posts of Additional Registrar (Vigilance) in the High Court, Additional Director Special Judge (Corruption Prevention) of Judicial Officers Training Institute, Special Judge (SC/ST (Atrocities Prevention) Act), Chairman Consumer Forum and Chief Legal Advisor. He also held additional charge of Additional Secretary of Director Public Prosecution.

Justice N.K. Gupta disposed about 48 thousand 550 cases during his tenure of 7 years 2 months in Main Bench of M.P. High Court, Jabalpur till December 2015 and in Gwalior Bench from January 2016 to June 30, 2017 including legal, civil and judicial cases. Justice Gupta in the last 18 months of his tenure disposed over 200 judicial appeals and disposed several cases of corruption prevention. He disposed 33 judicial appeals in 5 days under vacation’s special hearing. The annual average of Justice N.K. Gupta for redressal of cases is 6770 cases which is double as compared to the national average (About 2500 cases per year) of High Court Judges.-Windowtonews
