WTN (April 16) : On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank into the North Atlantic Ocean while on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City. The huge ship, which carried 2,200 passengers and crew, had struck an iceberg. More than 1,500 people died.
The name Titanic was derived from Greek mythology and meant gigantic. It was considered to be “unsinkable” and the largest, most luxurious ocean liner of its time,
1997 film “Titanic” based on sinking of Titanic ship, achieved critical and commercial success.
